Christ comes back to earth in Seville at the time of the inquisition. The people recognize and adore him but he is arrested by the Grand Inquisitor and sentenced to be burned at the stake.
The Grand Inquisitor visits Jesus in his cell and explains why his return to earth interferes with the mission of the church.
