This is a wonderful collection of music from a very under-rated singer. These albums were recorded in 1959 & 1960, but they owe nothing to the rock 'n' roll of the time. Instead they owe much more to the Great American Songbook. There are even a couple of country songs here too. Among the classics, there are "Moonglow", "Hooray For Hollywood", "Time After Time" etc. This collection is dominated by love ballads, but not limited to them, as "Aba Daba Honeymoon" demonstrates, if you enjoy music by the likes of Peggy Lee, Jeri Southern and other like them, give Debbie a listen. A star in her teens, and still a star, this Jasmine CD features two classic Debbie Reynolds albums from 1959 & 1960, both recorded for Dot. In the words of Bing Crosby, who wrote one of the sleeve notes 'As a rule, good actors make good singers. We all know that Debbie is better than a good actress, she's very good, and we all know she can sing with a lilt and a listenable quality that genuinely pleasant and agreeable. It was small surprise to me then that when I listened to this beautiful album, I found myself captivated and enchanted' Two original LPs on one CD with 23 titles in total with over 1 hour playing time. Full page reproduction inside booklet of each original LP front cover and original sleeve notes reproduced in full.
