A veteran of Broadway, U.S. regional theater, and London's West End, George Dvorsky fills his first solo album with 16 romantic favorites from Cole Porter and Jerome Kern. While he might occasionally work a little too hard at being suave and the arrangements might get a bit lounge-heavy (for example, the harp glissandos on "Chills ran up and down my spine"), Dvorsky is a pleasure to listen to and is at his best when he has fun with a romp such as "Let's Begin." In addition, the luscious song list is nearly impeccable (well, OK, it would have been nice to have "All the Things You Are" and "Every Time We Say Goodbye"). Minor quibbles aside, this is a fine recording.
