It has a distinct flavour and smell similar to that of boiled eggs due to the sulphite mineral content within the salt. In India, Kala Namak (or nimak) is used as a salty, strong condiment and in various savoury dishes. BLACK SALT is considered a cooling spice in ayurvedic medicine and is used as a laxative and digestive aid.
