Made in France by Mauviel Manufacturing Company Ernest Mauviel established the Mauviel manufacturing company in 1830 in the little medieval village of Villedieu-les-Poêles located near Mont-Saint-Michel in Normandy. Villedieu-les-Poêles translates to "City of God, the Stoves". The divine ("dieu") reference was earned in the 12th century when the village became part of the Christian Order of the Knights of Malta; the " Poêles" (stoves) reference indicates that the village was historically a center of coppersmithing. In fact, Villedieu-les-Poêles has an 800-year heritage of copper manufacturing. This expertise has been handed down from generation to generation to Mauviel's manufacturing company, which continues the tradition of fine copper craftsmanship.
