The Orange-footed sea cucumber (Cucumaria frondosa) is the largest sea cucumber in New England. It is one of the most abundant and widespread species of holothurians within the North Atlantic Ocean and the Barents Sea (Russia), being most abundant along the eastern coast of northern India. Sea Cucumber (Cucumaria Frondosa) reach on Frondoside A. Frondoside Ais a triterpenoid saponin with a sugar-steroid structure, is derived from the orange-footed sea cucumber, Cucumaria frondosa. Frondoside A has potent cytotoxicity against THP-1 and HeLa tumor cell lines with IC50 values of 4.5 g/mL and 2.1 g/mL. Additionally, Frondoside A strongly decreased the growth of MDA-MB-231 tumor xenografts.
