Traditional Design Unique Design Body Wood Selections Solid Sitka spruce, one of the worlds strongest and most durable woods, is used for the tops of our Contemporary Series guitars. When combined with the prewar forward-X bracing pattern, the top has the perfect balance of strength and flexibility to promote the ideal tone. For the back and sides, you have a choice of select mahogany or nicely-figured Santos rosewood. The standard models feature pearl position dots while the top models of the BR-70 series have hexagonal outlines of abalone pearl to complement the matching pearl inlaid border of the top and the central sound hole rosette ring. A traditional tear drop-shaped pickguard of black ABS isused on all models, and the mahogany models are bound inblack ABS while the rosewood models feature white ABS binding. Vintage-style, open-back tuners with butterbean buttons are used on all models. These 14:1 ratio gears turn smoothly and easily and will give years of trouble-free service. They are heavily nickel-plated, with gold-plate on the BR-70 series.
