All measurements and characteristic features of this guitar were faithfully recreated to make this the highest quality and affordable guitar of this kind on the market today! Traditional Look Distinctive Design Body Wood Selections A key to the sound of Gypsy Jazz music has a lot to do with the woods used in the construction of each instrument. Gitane follows traditional design cues by using solid Sitka spruce for the top and high quality laminates for the back and sides. This combination provides the percussive snap, and attack that one needs to play this music correctly. The necks are made of the best hardwoods for stability and strength, as well as the tonal characteristics they impart. Gitane Gypsy Jazz Guitars respond like racecars, and will challenge any players technique, no matter the skill level. Fingerboards and Fittings Choice, highly polished ebony is used for the fingerboards of all models in this series. The smooth playability and fast action that this material provides makes it very fast to play, and more durable than other materials. The finest available tuning machines, designed for a slotted peghead and designed in the vintage style, are fitted to each Gitane and provide accurate tuning and stability. The traditional trapeze-style tailpiece allows for quick string changes, and can accommodate ball-end or loop end strings. The traditional moveable ebony bridge design is easy to position for perfect intonation and adjustment. Construction Gitane Gypsy Jazz guitars are styled after the legendary instruments made by Selmer in the early 1930s. Each has design features and is constructed using the same techniques and methods that made the originals so special and collectable to this day. The gently arched top, and perfect body proportions are all part of the sound that cannot be duplicated in any other style of guitar. The Details From the slotted peghead to the sound hole shape and unique cutaway design, Gitane Gypsy Jazz guitars will immediately invoke the sights and sounds of Gypsy Jazz music. Even though these guitars immediately bring to mind the legendary master of the style, Django Reinhardt, the modern-day legends that we work with and whose names adorn our Gitane Signature Series instruments carry the flame faithfully. So get ready to unleash the Gypsy in your Soul by playing Gitane! Attention to Detail Gitane Gypsy Jazz Guitars - Classic guitars from the past that really swing! The Gitane D-500 represents the first great Gypsy Jazz guitar ever designed in 1930 and has been refined by the Gitane artisans for even greater playability and tone. Its large D-shape sound hole, or Grand Bouche, combined with classical guitar appointments, set the standard and style for many similar guitars to follow. The characteristic tone and striking appearance became the standard instrument for anyone playing Gypsy Jazz music. Traditionally, the Grand Bouche design of the D-500 favors more bass response and is generally the choice of rhythm guitarists, but keep in mindthis was the first design Django played. The rest is history!
