Product Description
It is an often over-looked fact but the first rock & roll artist to score a UK #1 hit album wasn't Elvis Presley, the best selling artist in the world, or Cliff Richard, his UK rival, but Freddy Cannon. Whilst his single sales might have been modest with only one making the Top Ten, Freddy Cannon came across as an out and out rock & roller. Where others varied their material, Freddy stuck religiously to his guns. This, coupled with a blistering tour of the UK in early 1960, helped The Explosive Freddy Cannon power up the album charts, spending eleven weeks on the chart, of which one was spent at the summit. Freddy never troubled the album charts again, but he surpassed Elvis and Cliff during his brief spell.
