Product Description

The grade 2 steel lag screw with hot-dipped galvanized finish has a flange hex head and meets Industrial Fasteners Institute 111, American Iron and Steel Institute 1006-1022, and American Society for Testing and Materials ASTM A153 specifications. Grade 2 steel, composed of either low or medium carbon steel, is often used in applications where toughness is the primary consideration. The hot-dipped galvanized finish offers excellent corrosion resistance. The flange hex head has six flat sides that a wrench can grip to turn from the side, enabling use when there is no space above the head for a screwdriver. The flange acts like a washer to increase the fastener's bearing surface and distribute the clamping force over a larger area, providing grip and reducing damage to mating surfaces.Lag screws, also called lag bolts, are hex-headed threaded fasteners commonly used for wood-fastening applications where load bearing is a factor. Usually longer than wood screws, lag screws are inserted into a drilled hole and secured with a nut.
