The American Carbide Tool E-style C5 grade carbide-tipped brazed tool bit has a neutral cutting direction and a sharp tip with a 60-degree angle for fine threading on steel and steel alloys. The E-style tool shape has a tip with a 60-degree angle ground to a sharp point for fine threading. It can also be used for chamfering, notching, and undercutting. The tool has a positive, 3-degree rake angle that provides a sharp edge for making continuous cuts and a neutral cutting direction for right-to-left or left-to-right feed. The tool has a C5 grade uncoated carbide tip, which provides good resistance to shock and wear for machining of steel and steel alloys. Carbide is harder than high-speed or cobalt steel, making it more wear resistant at high speeds and providing longer tool life. The tip is brazed to a square steel shank that fits square toolholders. Brazed tools, often called single-point brazed carbide-tipped tools, are used for metal shaping on lathes or screw machines.
