** 24 x 18 Stretched Canvas Archival Print ** I love comics. Look at my work and my life and that should be obvious. The gangster series stemmed from that love filtered through a temporary reality. I began that series shortly after I moved into a brand new condo-converted building on Chicago's north side. Unbeknownst to my girlfriend or I (or anyone else who moved in), the building stood on the corner of a disputed territory battle between two of Chicagoland's more dangerous gangs. Over the next year our building was repeatedly marked, tagged and vandalized in the name of the disputing gangs. It was during that time I realized how easily things could be divided. How easily a spray painted sign or a colored bandana could be cause for such a chasm in a "society". I decided my artwork needed said chasm to add create opposing sides and to create tension. Gangster Superman and Batman was my light-hearted attempt to capture this. And also, having Adam West throwing up west side was an opportunity I wasn't gonna pass up.
