The NIBCO 5893 trap pipe fitting is made of acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) for use in drain, waste, and vent systems (DWV) and has a hub connection and a slip-joint connection. This trap fitting has a 90-degree turn for creating a water seal in commercial and residential drain, waste, and vent (DWV) systems by automatically trapping water in the arc of the fitting to prevent gases from entering occupied spaces. It has a female hub opening on one end and a slip joint opening on the other for connecting to unthreaded pipes. Tightening the slip nut against the slip joint washer creates a compression seal against leaks and loosening the slip nut allows disassembly of the joined parts.
