View larger The Choice for Professional Electrical Contractors The AM-530 True-rms Multimeter is the fully-featured choice for the professional electrical contractor. Measure and verify presence of voltage to connect equipment or to perform repairs, run new wiring, check continuity of electrical connections, identify blown fuses, troubleshoot motors or check transformers. The AM-530 is true-rms sensing to accurately measure voltage on systems affected by harmonics as well as a built-in flashlight to detect wire colors in the dark and non-contact voltage detection. Packed with Rich Features The AM-530 multimeter comes with a set of detachable test leads that measure AC/DC current to 10 amps, AC voltage to 750V, DC voltage to 1,000V, resistance to 40 megaohms, capacitance to 4,000 microfarads, frequency to 10 megahertz (MHz), and microamps. The meter comes with a K-type thermocouple probe for measuring temperature. The meter's non-contact voltage detector senses AC voltage without making contact with the circuit. A built-in flashlight allows the user to read component values, detect wire colors and read name tags in dark areas. The microamp reading identifies current changes in flame detector applications. The 4,000 microfarad capacitance rating is for testing run/start capacitors on motors. A liquid crystal display (LCD) shows readings both in digits and on a 41-segment bar graph. The display is backlit for visibility in low light. The relative zero mode stores a reading in memory to use as a zero point for subsequent readings, allowing for quick comparison of readings. The maximum or minimum reading mode displays the highest or lowest reading in a session to track a sudden increase or decrease in readings. The hold function keeps a reading on the display, even after the meter is disconnected. An audible continuity verifies voltage presence, and a diode test detects whether the circuit's diodes work properly. An auto power-off mode turns off the unit after 15 minutes of non-use to conserve battery life, and a low-battery indicator signals when the meter's batteries need to be replaced. The back of the meter has a tilt stand that allows the meter to be propped on a surface for hands-free use. A probe holder on the body of the meter stores probes when not in use. The meter comes with a velcro strap for hanging.
