Petrified wood is a fossil formed when minerals infiltrate cavities between and within cells of natural wood. Usually infiltrated by silica or calcite, the replacement of the organic tissue with the minerals can be so precise that the internal structure as well as the external shape can still be very well-represented. The different minerals can give petrified wood a range of different colors. A beautiful specimen, this will be of enormous benefit for featuring a comprehensive rock collection in the science classroom, or for the rock collector in your family.
Please be aware that this is a natural mineral and as such each piece is one of a kind! The one you receive may not be exactly the same as the ones pictured but it will be similar. Price is per each piece. They come in irregular shapes, sizes and weights. Photo shows three pieces for demonstration purposes only.
Warning: Choking hazard due to small parts. Not for children under 3 years old.
