Product Description
'Further Explorations by the Horace Silver Quintet' was released in 1958 on the legendary Blue Note Jazz label, featuring a selection of original, though lesser known, compositions by jazz pianist Horace Silver. His quintet here includes tenor saxophonist Clifford Jordan, trumpeter Art Farmer, bassist Teddy Kotick and drummer Louis Hayes - performing on the five original tracks, and on, 'Ill Wind' by Harold Arlen and Ted Koehler. 1958 saw Silver in a period of transition, as he had moved past the Jazz Messengers, but had yet to form up with Blue Mitchell and Junior Cook, with whom he would later recorded several classic albums. Yet Silver displays his trademark funky style, with plenty of mood and groove variation, making 'Futher Explorations by the Horace Silver Quintet' a great addition to any jazz fan's collection. The album was re-released in 2008, having been digitally remastered by Jazz recording legend Rudy Van Gelder.
