Product Description
For this second of many screen versions of the famous stage play , director Howard Hawks decided to give the role of newspaperMAN Hildy to Rosalind Russell, and re-name the whole thing . It has never been funnier. Cary Grant absolutely sparkles as Walter Burns, the acerbic and slightly shifty newspaper editor and ex-husband of Hildy, who just can't resist trying to screw things up for her when happy Hildy drops by the office to submit her resignation and show off her future husband, played with dimwitted brilliance by Ralph Ballamy. Hildy says she's fed up with the newspaper business, but can't quite seem to get out of town as Walter tempts her with covering the story of the year: the execution of a dreaded anarchist, who turns out to be a nutty socialist about to go to the chair in order to assure the re-election of a cadre of crooked politicians. One of the greatest comedies ever to hit the screen!
