Firefox 39 - 40, browser extension issue

Posted 07-06-2015 36:27 EDT

Just found out firefox 39 and 40 have an issue with the PriceZombie extension. Looks like there is some kind of incompatibility, though we don't see any errors being reported. A few other extensions I use also seem to have stopped working.

We're looking into it now.

Multiple Amazon Wishlists!

Posted 06-28-2015 17:39 EDT

At long last, we've completed support for importing multiple Amazon wishlists into PriceZombie.

The interface is similar to what you have used in the past, except that there is now a wishlist drop down on the watchlist page. Select either the default PriceZombie watchlist, or a named Amazon wishlist that you've imported. They are no longer combined into a single page.

You can import as many wishlists as you'd like.

I've also simplified the import screen, so you just need to give it a name and supply the amazon wishlist url.

Temporary removal of price drop and lowest ever pages

Posted 06-27-2015 40:13 EDT

The two pages were so slow they have become unusable. We need some time to rework the query and optimize so it is usable again.

For anyone curious, the query itself is fast, the issue is the subquery that has to compare the lowest price or lowest ever price seen with other stores carrying the same product. For example, if Amazon sells a CPU for $100 regularly, and another store sells it for $400 then drops the price to $200, we would claim 50% off, but we know even at 50% off its still a bad price even if its the lowest price ever seen at this store. The subquery eliminates bad price drops like that from the results. Unfortunately the number of stores and products in the system has grown to the point where this went from sub-2 second query to something that has been taking a minute.

I will readd the two pages back soon as we can.

Will be evaluating the feeds to verify they import cleanly.

Filler Finder allows you to quickly find one or more products to reach a certain price in your shopping cart to obtain free shipping. To access it, visit any store indexed by PriceZombie and click on the "Filler Finder" tab on the left to access it.

Enter the amount you need to get free shipping, and we'll list all matching products in that range. The items displayed are sorted by highest price drop. You can also limit the search by category.
