As a pianist I have been inspired by many jazz greats. To name a few; Oscar Peterson, Bill Evans, Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea and Thelonious Monk. As a composer, I have been influenced by jazz, classical and pop composers, from Bach to the Beatles, from John Coltrane to John Williams. Music has been in my blood as far back as I remember. I play what I write and I write what I feel from an emotion within myself or an idea from someone else. Back in 1994 I had this vision; putting together years of original jazz tunes on one CD. In 1997 and the following 3 years I spent writing and recording my jazz tunes along with some great musicians who gig with me. The recording sessions originally took place in my home studio. In April of 99' we transferred some 8 track tapes and re-recorded some new songs at Spectrum Studio in Pompano, Florida. I brought in Craig Pichanick on drums for some newer tunes and had him re-record on some of the older tapes for better sound quality I couldn't achieve in my own studio. Our original drummer, Stan Baron was nursing his father at the time who sadly passed away during those recording weeks. Guitarist, Mitch Farber contributed and recorded one of his originals, a great piece dedicated to his daughter, 'Song For Kryta'. I also co-wrote 2 songs with vocalist Samantha Farr who did a wonderful job stretching her vocal range and ability ('Speak to me of love' and 'Let me be the one'). Thanks for reading my little story and all I can say is...get Lost! - Gary Farr
