The Brown & Sharpe Vernier Depth Gauges, Micrometer Type, Metric, have a measurement range of 0 to 75mm and 0 to 150mm, and a resolution (or smallest graduation interval) of 0.01mm, with + or - 0.003mm of accuracy. The vernier scale provides precise, fine measurements. These depth gauges have a 100 mm long hardened, precision base, that is used as a reference for measurements. They have a friction thimble for uniform measurements. They include three or six 4mm diameter rods, depending on the model. These gauges conform to the Deutsches Institut fr Normung (DIN) 863 T2 (style T) and Norme Franaise (NF) E 11-097 standards. They have a satin-chrome finish to reduce glare when reading measurements and come with a fitted wooden case. Depth gauges are typically used in manufacturing, machining, and mechanical engineering. Depth gauges are precision measuring instruments used to determine the depth of any shape that has a step, groove, or slot. These gauges often take the form of sliders that travel on a measuring beam or rods, are moved to position by hand, and then adjusted with a calibrated screw. The base of the gauge rests at the top of the shape whose recession is to be measured, while the beam or rods extend to the bottom of therecessionto determine the measurement. Gauge position is read from a graduated scale, dial, counters, or an electronic display.Brown & Sharpe manufactures precision measuring equipment and metrology hand tools. The company, founded in 1833, is headquartered in North Kingstown, RI.
