The Simplex Splitting Maul features the patented Halder Simplex cast iron housing. The split cast iron housing firmly holds all of the pieces together and can be taken apart to replace any or all of the components that make up this high quality Maul. The housing also forms an extra-large protective overstrike area to protect against damage when the intended target is missed. This drastically increases the life of the maul handle. This is something that many other mauls and axes on the market do not have. The forged steel blade has a sharpened "turned" nose which makes splitting logs quick and easy. The replaceable nylon face is used to hit wedges, such as the Halder Simplex Splitting Wedge. The face is made of extremely durable extruded nylon which will not split or crack, even in cold conditions and is designed to hit hardened steel.
