When connect with passive mini-SAS storage device, each of the four 12Gb/s line is operate individually, providing direct access to the connected hard drives or SSD. mini-SAS HD also work with SAS expander storage to provide 48Gb/s data transfer bandwidth in between hard drives and controllers.
