The LaMotte 1947 Hand-Held Air Sampling Pump is a manually operated, syringe-style pump that draws up to 50cc of air for spot-checking concentrations of gases in industrial applications and testing air quality in educational demonstrations. The pump has an impinger, also called a bubbling tube, mounted via a plastic spring-grip clamp to the syringe barrel. The impinger holds an absorbing solution (sold separately) that selects for the pollutant being tested. It includes 305mm of vinyl tubing through which air flows from the syringe barrel and into the absorbing solution. The syringe barrel has 1cc graduation intervals. The pump housing is acrylic plastic for impact resistance. Air sampling pumps are commonly used for environmental testing applications. Pumps evacuate an enclosed area and move fluid or gas from one location to another. Pump choices are guided by the specific application and required substance compatibility. LaMotte manufactures analytical reagents, portable water testing instrumentation, and microbiological testing products. The company, founded in 1919, is headquartered in Chestertown, MD.
