From August 26 - 30 1970 half a million people from Europe and North America went to the Isle of Wight for the first truly international festival of music and the last of the great tribal gatherings in the Sixties tradition.
Legions of people made the pilgrimage to Wight in anticipation of Jimi's concert. WEM sound systems provided 5000 Watts, more than had ever been used outdoors before. It was Jimi's last major public appearance and his loudest. Eighteen days later, Jimi died in London.
