The PROVON 4235-12 moisturizing hand and body lotion is a water-based lotion with petrolatum and skin conditioners that helps relieve dermatitis symptoms by moisturizing the skin, and comes in a 16 fl. oz. pump bottle for dispensing small amounts of lotion at a time. The skin conditioners (including petrolatum, glycerin, and dimethicone) help keep skin hydrated, and isopropyl myristate and cetyl alcohol help lubricate the skin for a smooth feeling. The lotion is compatible with latex gloves to reduce the risk of glove degradation, and with CHG (chlorhexidine gluconate) anti-pathogen to reduce the risk of deactivating interference. Hair shampoos typically contain water, surfactants for cleaning, thickeners to adjust viscosity, and sometimes conditioners to alter the texture and appearance of hair. Some shampoos are formulated for use on skin as well, and may also include skin conditioners to reduce the drying impact of frequent washing. Skin conditioners come in four categories: emollients (to lubricate), humectants (to moisturize), occlusive (to reduce moisture loss by forming a barrier on the skin), and miscellaneous (to enhance the appearance of dry or damaged skin).
