Formulated for use in the 1920's, DaVinci sculpting clay is based on a very traditional Italian formula. It is a sulphur based modeling clay with an exceptionally soft, smooth surface, similar to water based clays. Sculptors who have a loose style use DaVinci. This clay body will not hold tight detail but will move easily and can be very quickly shaped. DaVinci does not contain any wax therefore the clay is not significantly effected by temperature variations and it does not have much strength and flexibility. The DaVinci clays, are available in Soft and Firm. They represent the two sofest clays offered by Chavant. They may have a tendency to slump under their own weight. When using DaVinci it is suggested that an armature be created using "butterfly" stations attached to the primary armature structure. DaVinci is only available in Gray.
