Freddie Kings My Feeling For The Blues is more than just an appropriate title for this legendary blues album. It is a true description of the prowess, excitement and artistry that this brilliant artist conveyed to millions of his fans and fellow musicians for the very short time we were all blessed to have him on planet earth. The Gilmer, Texas born guitarist and blues master was an ardent student of country blues throughout his early life. After years of smaller label releases, plentiful session work and tireless club gigs, The Texas Cannonballs songs were soon to be covered by some of the biggest rock and blues artists of all time like John Mayall, Eric Clapton and Johnny Winter. Freddie moved back to Texas and would soon be contacted by saxophone legend King Curtis and Atlantic Records to record a new album of material for the new label Cotillion , which would go on to become one of the first albums for this historic label as well, known as Freddie King Is A Blues Master (FRM-90040) The recording sessions for My Feeling For The Blues yielded 11 stellar workouts which have all gone on to become some of his most treasured material. Kicking things off with the soulful blues of the classic Yonder Wall, Freddie not only had a chance to show his fans his guitar acumen, he also displayed his soulful vocal style that was another side of the artists winning appeal. This fine album proved that Freddie King could also deliver the goods as even more powerful artistry abounds with the funk of Ray Charles Whatd I Say, the sweltering lead guitar breaks on The Things I Used To Do, the thrilling approach of the master on I Wonder Why and the instrumental break beat of his solid groover You Dont Have To Go. As another stellar release in our Freddie King Original Records Master Series, Friday Music is proud to offer the limited edition classic My Feeling For The Blues. This legendary blues release is now enhanced with impeccable mastering from the original Cotillion/Atlantic Records tapes by Joe Reagoso (Freddie King/Johnny Winter/Muddy Waters). We have also included some rare label memorabilia, original artwork elements, new liner notes including some kind words from his old friend the great Johnny Winter, and of course all of these great tunes to make this one of your favorite blues revisits from the immortal blues titan Freddie King.
