So you've got your HDMI splitter sending your video signal-Inch the den so you can watch the game in peace. But the cable box is in the other room and you can't channel surf between the various games? It sounds like you need this IR Extender Over HDMI from Monoprice! Most other IR extenders are either wireless which can cause interference issues with other wireless equipment or hard wired meaning you need-Inch run another cable through your walls. This extender is completely different in that it use s your existing HDMI cable-Inch carry the IR signal from one room-Inch the other. The kit consists of two small HDMI modules that fit on each end of your existing HDMI cable. Each module has a 3. 5mm jack into which you plug the IR receiver or transmitter module. The receiver module accepts the IR signal from your remote control while the transmitter module regenerates the IR signal and beams it at the IR sensor of your cable box or other piece of equipment. This IR extender supports IR signals from 30~60KHz which means that it works with "dual band" IR devices. The receiver module has a 48" cable and the transmitter module has a 56" cable. The kit comes with two pieces of double-sided adhesive tape so you can fix the transmitter and receiver modules into place. Note that-Inch transmit the IR signal over the HDMI cable the switches on both modules must be set-Inch the "IR" position. If both switches are set-Inch the "CEC" position the cable will pass CEC signals instead of IR signals which HDMI cables do by default so the "CEC" position is in effect the "OFF" position. If one switch is set-Inch "CEC" and the other-Inch "IR" neither CEC nor IR signals will be passed so ensure both switches are set the same.
